A Brief Personal History
Dr. Fred Peipman was born in the United States but grew up in Papua New Guinea, The child of Australian parents.
He spent the first fourteen years of his life outside the small town of Goroka, in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea. He loved his childhood and spent his days playing outdoors building tree-houses, riding his bike, exploring, and reading, without the influences of television, radio, or the internet. The Peipman family had no traffic lights in their town, and electricity came from a diesel generator that they had to crank up to start every evening. Dr. Fred's mother passed away from cancer when he was five years old and he lived with his father and adopted older siblings for a few years until his father was remarried to a woman whose husband had also died.
At the age of 14, Dr. Fred came to the United States to live with his stepmother's family in order to attend middle and high school. A year later his parents and siblings moved to the U.S.A. and he completed high school in Westhampton Beach, Long Island, living once again with his blended family.
Dr. Fred's passions have always involved helping others and volunteering as well as enjoying travel (he loves to visit family and friends overseas and enjoys lecturing on cruises) and especially the outdoors and sports (snowboarding, skiing, mountain-biking, hiking, sailing, rock-climbing, and scuba-diving, to name a few). He has lived in Connecticut, New Mexico, New York, Colorado, and Florida to pursue his education and practice his profession and he enjoys spending time with his many friends and family members around the world.
Dr. Fred Peipman decided to enter the fields of mental health counseling and then psychology out of a desire to improve the relationships and life situations that so many people seem to struggle with. His goal is to help families, couples, and individuals become more satisfied, peaceful, and optimistic.
