A breakthrough treatment that combines traditional psychotherapy with ketamine medicine

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Becoming an exceptional therapist involves far more than accumulating hours toward licensure. Clinical supervision is an opportunity to deepen clinical skills, strengthen professional identity, and develop the confidence needed to work effectively with complex clients.

With three decades of experience as a psychologist, counselor, consultant, and mentor, I provide supervision for master's-level associates, doctoral trainees, and licensed clinicians seeking professional growth and consultation
My approach is collaborative, supportive, and highly interactive, combining practical feedback with thoughtful exploration of clinical process and professional growth. My goal is to help clinicians move beyond simply "doing therapy" toward developing a thoughtful, flexible, and authentic therapeutic style.

Supervision is a place to ask difficult questions, explore uncertainty, receive constructive feedback, and grow into the clinician you aspire to become. Research indicates that effective supervision combines skill development, corrective feedback, strong supervisory relationships, and support for clinician well-being—all elements I strive to bring to every supervisory relationship.

Whether you are just beginning your post-graduate journey or looking to refine advanced clinical skills, I aim to create a supervision experience that is challenging, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable.

Available for pre- and post: master's-level associates, doctoral trainees, and licensed clinicians seeking consultation.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a legal and effective medicine used for treating conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Administered as a sublingual lozenge, it offers rapid antidepressant effects and enhances neuroplasticity for lasting improvement. Follow this link for a handout on how ketamine assisted therapy works.

What are the steps involved?

One cycle of KAP includes the following: First, we would have at least one to several  therapy/preparation sessions (preferably on the phone or video), then a 2- 2 1/2 hour dosing session (in person, or by video ), and then at least one follow-up integration session (on phone or video). This would be considered one cycle.

Most people have 4-6 cycles.  The ketamine is in a lozenge or a dissolving tablet that you hold in your mouth and then spit out after 10-15 minutes. There are no needles or injections involved.

How do I get the medication?

You may get your ketamine through your own local provider, or I work closely with  Better-U, an online ketamine provider, who works with clients in many different states. Some clients choose to get their medication through other online providers.

How Does Ketamine Feel?

Ketamine's effects, lasting about 45 minutes, induce a sense of detachment from the body and can lead to profound shifts in perception. Despite challenges articulating the experience, patients report clear insights and mood improvements lasting up to two weeks. Click here for an excellent description of ketamine and the brain.

How much does KAP cost?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is an affordable, accessible modality.   Although the medical intake and follow ups are not always covered by insurance, they are eligible for out-of-network reimbursement. For the ketamine-assisted psychotherapy sessions with Fred Peipman, we will provide you with a super-bill that you can submit to your insurance to help cover part of the cost of dosing sessions and for integration and preparation sessions.  Please CLICK HERE to go to the FEES and Payments page for current fees and costs.
