Families come in many forms, and every dynamic presents unique challenges and opportunities for growth. I offer evidence-based, action-oriented family therapy tailored to support:

  • Traditional & blended families navigating relationship dynamics and transitions
  • LGBTQ+ families & parents seeking affirming support and guidance
  • Divorced & separated parents working towards effective co-parenting strategies
  • Families with a relative in treatment managing mental health or substance use concerns
  • Multigenerational households addressing communication and boundary-setting
  • Parents & children (co-joint therapy) fostering stronger connections and emotional resilience

Therapeutic Approaches

My work integrates proven, interactive therapies to help families build healthier relationships:

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT) – Managing stress, emotions, and reactivity
  • Relational Therapy – Strengthening communication and connection
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Cultivating flexibility and resilience
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy – Healing past wounds and breaking negative cycles
  • Family Systems & Gottman-Based Couples Therapy – Improving dynamics between partners and family members

With a compassionate, psychoeducational, and conversational approach, I help families recognize and shift harmful patterns, navigate conflict, and create lasting, positive change. Whether you're co-parenting after separation, supporting a child through mental health struggles, or looking to improve family communication, we’ll collaborate to find practical solutions you can implement right away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you prescribe medication in family therapy?

No. If needed, referrals can be made to psychiatrists or existing providers can be consulted.

What should we do in the event of a mental health crisis within our family?

Call emergency services or a crisis hotline: Access Helpline (415-255-3737), National Lifeline (800-273-8255), or text START to 741-741.

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule a family therapy appointment?

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or missed sessions may result in a fee.

Is what we share in family therapy confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is protected by law, with exceptions for harm, abuse, or legal obligations, which will be clearly explained in the first session.

How can we tell if family therapy is right for us?

Family therapy is helpful for conflict, communication issues, parenting challenges, transitions, or stress. A free 15-minute consultation is available.

What if one family member does not want to participate in therapy?

Therapy can begin even if only some members participate. Others may choose to join once they see progress.

How long is each family therapy session, and how often will we attend?

Sessions last 75–90 minutes. Families typically attend weekly or bi-weekly, then transition to monthly as progress is made, depending on needs.

Do you accept insurance for family therapy, and what are your fees?

We do not accept insurance, but we provide a 'super bill' for reimbursement. Payment is required before or after each session.

Do you offer in-person sessions, virtual (online) therapy, or both for family therapy?

Most sessions are virtual for flexibility, with in-person appointments available in San Francisco. Families can choose the format that works best.

How many family therapy sessions will we need, and how long does family therapy usually last?

Short-term therapy might be 8–12 sessions. Complex family issues may require ongoing work over several months. Progress is regularly reviewed together.

What can we expect during family therapy sessions, especially our first session?

In your first session, we'll explore your family's dynamics, challenges, and goals. Each member can share their perspective. Future sessions focus on communication, relationships, and practical skills for conflict resolution.
